AESTHETIC SABOTAGE | Vital Wilsh

I believe in creating our own family traditions, and that celebrations can be as authentic and special as we are.

HI, I AM VITAL

BASED IN New York
AVAILABLE — WORLDWIDE

That's me trying to look natural in front of a camera, haha.
It's not easy to feel comfortable and act naturally when someone points a camera at you; I get it!

That's why my approach is:

  • absolutely no strict or boring posing

  • only gentle hints and smooth directions with lots of laughs and real conversations that help you feel your most natural way.

I like to learn my couples’ interactions, quirks, and nuances as we spend our time together. This way I strive to capture something more than just beautiful pictures. It's more about creating a meaningful, interesting, and heartwarming visual narrative of your relationship.

Born and raised in Lviv, Ukraine, in a family of doctors, I somehow avoided the path of going into medicine. I’ve always gravitated towards history & arts. My first attempt at photography was, like for most of my generation, with my parents’ point-n-shoot film camera. In my teenage years, I considered photography one of my hobbies. I remember going to thrift stores looking for some cool old film cameras and then learning all the technical nuances and composition aspects from old Soviet-era photography books.

In 2014 I moved to the US, and shortly after I decided to try myself at wedding photography. The freedom and travel opportunities offered by wedding photography and photography as a profession were the main factors that convinced me to take it seriously and make it my career.

So I started reading even more about wedding photography, took some masterclasses and mentoring sessions from famous New York photographers, and finally photographed my first wedding in early 2016. Since 2016, I’ve photographed more than 60 weddings & elopements. My biggest pride is my happy clients and their families.

I enjoy reading adventure novels & biographies, watching The Simpsons and The Office, and I'm a huge fan of Guy Ritchie's movies.

I've visited more than 20 countries all over the world,
and my goal is to visit a new country every year.

In 2016, I tried backpacking for the first time in my life.
Now I can't live without backpacking/hiking trips to the mountains.

I’ve climbed a few peaks in the White Mountains in New Hampshire and some technical routes to the summits in Kazakhstan so far. And I can't wait to climb peaks in Colorado and Washington states. My ultimate goal is to climb Mt.Denali in Alaska. Yeah, I know, it’s cool and insane at the same time.

I have a super small Youtube channel where I upload my travel vids.

This clip is from my road trip to Norway. My mom and I met in Oslo, rented a car, and drove through the south and southwest of Norway all the way to Alesund and back. It was a two-week road trip and my very first attempt at filming.
